#FeatureFriday: American Liver Foundation Liver Life Walk
On Saturday, May 14 walkers pounded the pavement in support of the American Liver Foundation. The Liver Life Walk was located at Carson Beach in Boston. The walk helps to bring awareness to liver disease. It also raises money for the cause. The Greater Boston Liver Life Walk is only one portion of the National Liver Life Walk. The National Liver Life Walk is the largest fundraising and awareness event related to liver health in the United States.
The walk was two miles in length and went around the Harbor Walk. Registration began at 9 A.M. and the walk itself started at 10:30 A.M. WCVB Channel 5 News reporter, Juli McDonald emceed the event. At the walk there were also activities for children, food, entertainment and more information about the American Liver Foundation. There was always something to do and it was fun for the whole family.
The walk raised a total of $66,885 for the cause. All donations will go to the support of educational programs and patient services. These services will benefit those Americans suffering from one of the 100 known liver diseases. Liver disease is one of America’s fastest growing health concerns. Thanks in part to this walk people are learning more about the disease. Strides are also being made in hopes of finding a cure.
