The W.B. Mason Championship is the eighth of twenty-three tournaments across fourteen states.  This tournament featured the top 132 aspiring LPGA professionals across the globe.  This year the purse was at $125,000.  The winner earned $18,750 moving her up on the Volvik Race for the Card money list.   The Symetra Tour gives the top ten on the list at the end of the tour LPGA membership for the 2017 season.  Last year, Vicki Hurst of Melbourne, Florida won the tournament with her first victory in seven years and placed eighth on the Volvik Race for the Card money list giving her LPGA membership for 2016.  This year, Natalie Sheary from West Hartford, Connecticut won her first Symetra Tour title at the W.B. Mason Championship going from 34th to 8th on the money list with $28,325, $18,750 of which comes from this tournament.  On Friday, May 27 Sheary broke the course record with a 62.  Marissa Steen of West Chester, Ohio came in second place winning $11,804 bringing her total to $38,765.  This championship brought her to 2nd on the money list.  The first place holder on the money list with $103,300, Madelene Sagstrom did not participate in the W.B. Mason Championship.  Will these women continue to stay on top and get their LPGA membership for 2017?  Only time will tell.  If you want to keep track of the Volvik Race for the Card money list standings go to: http://www.symetratour.com/volvik-race-for-the-card.
