It’s Halloween Party Season!

Planning your Halloween Festivities

Halloween is less than three weeks away!  By now you should have at least some idea of what costume you want to wear and how much candy you need to buy but do you know how you are going to celebrate this spooky day?  Maybe you can have a spooktacular party to enjoy the day with all of your friends and family members or for your child to show their friends just how wicked they are.

First, you’ll need to pick a date and time for your party.  You may want to choose Halloween itself but unfortunately it’s on a Monday this year.  Many people won’t want to stay out to late on a school/work night and it can’t be a daytime affair as it is a school/work day.  Luckily, it is not a requirement to have your Halloween party on the actual day of Halloween.  You could have it on the weekend prior or even the weekend before that!  Just try to keep it in October as by November everyone’s mind is set on Thanksgiving and in some instances, Christmas.

After you select your date you should select your venue.  Why not rent a tent from B.C. Tent and Awning?  A tent’s white backdrop has a ghostly display and you can decorate however you please.  You could include decorations that are orange, black and purple to present your Halloween theme.  Another idea is to put pumpkins all around to establish the fall feel.  We have all kinds of lighting that you could use to set the mood for your party. You could decorate using our paper lanterns or light up the event with our bistro string lights. Use some of our orange or purple uplights to increase the eerie atmosphere.  You could use Gobo pattern lighting like in the photo below to add texture to the tent. Make sure you send out invitations to everyone you would like to invite when you have selected your date and venue.

Now that you have chosen your venue and your date, you should figure out what activities you will have for your guests.  Common Halloween activities include Bobbing for Apples, a Candy Corn Count, Halloween Mystery Boxes and a Donut Eating Race.  Check out our Halloween Pinterest Board for more ideas on what activities to include during your party.

After you have figured out what you will do at your event, the venue, and the date you should figure out what you are going to serve for your guests at the event.  Check out these Halloween inspired dishes from ourbestbites.com for some great ideas!  These Cream-Filled Pumpkin Cupcakes would also be a great dish for your festivities. Make the food fun and halloween themed so that it adds a conversation piece for your guests.

Once you have figured out the entirety of your event you will want to focus on your look for the evening.  You’re the host and you will want to dress in your Halloween best.  Will you go for spooky or cutesy?  Sporty or regal?  Do you want to be a bumblebee or maybe a creepy spider?  Dress your best for a successful Halloween bash. You could go with a couples costume or even a group costume like this awesome shark week ensemble that was put together below. Anything goes on Halloween so have fun with it and make sure to take a ton of pictures!

Following all of that planning you are ready to have your party.  Have set up done at least one hour prior to the event so that you can get ready to host and ensure you have time to fix any mishaps that may occur. Also, if you are hosting the party in one of our tents make sure you reserve tent heaters so that all of your guests will be comfortable no matter what costume they choose.  Have fun, be safe and ensure all of your guests are doing the same during the event!
