Getting a Gift for your Dad, the Father of the Bride

#WeddingWednesday: Getting a Gift for your Dad, the Father of the Bride

As a bride on your wedding day, you will want to be prepared to walk down the aisle and marry the love of your life.  You will also want to be prepared with gifts for those who have helped you grow and succeed in life, ultimately getting you to where you are today.  Your dad is one of those people you will want to give a gift that they will cherish forever.  Traditionally, the father of the bride is the one who walks you down the aisle, ensuring you do not go through this big step alone at any point.  Don’t just give your dad any old gift, give him something that he will love forever.

If your dad is the handyman type, perhaps a personalized hammer would be the perfect gift.  Put a nice phrase on it or on a holder for it such as “Thank you for helping me build my life” to show him how much you mean to him.

Give your dad something to wear down the aisle.  Find socks in his favorite color or your wedding colors and personalize them with a cute saying or a nice wrapping with the saying on it if you want the socks to be less quirky.

Give him a handkerchief with a poem or thank you note on it.  If he is a more emotional type of person he will see your words each time he goes to wipe his eyes throughout the night.  Also, the handkerchief typically goes in the breast pocket of a man’s suit.  Therefore, your gift will be close to his heart during the whole event.

Get your dad something he will surely always have on him when he is away from home.  A keychain is the perfect item that can be personalized and will forever remain a cherished item.  Add a cute note to go with it to show him how much you mean to him.

Most likely your dad will be wearing a tie on your wedding day.  Personalize his tie and make it his favorite by having a personalized patch sewn to the back of the tie.

Perhaps you want to give your dad a photographic memory of the day you walked down the aisle.  For now, give him a note telling him how important he is to you and how much you love him.  When your photos come in get a personalized frame with a photo of you and your father walking down the aisle or during the father-daughter dance.  He will be able to place this frame in an important place in the home, reminding him of you always.

Cuff links are another great gift to give your dad.  Get them personalized with a picture of you when you were younger with your dad on one and a nice saying on the other.  During the wedding he will be able to look at his wrists and see great memories staring back at him.
