#FeatureFriday: Easton Lions Club Holiday Festival
The Easton Lions Club held their annual Holiday Festival on December 3rd and 4th this year. This event has been held every year since 1986.
This year, the event was from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday, December 3rd and from 12 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, December 4th. Every year there is a multitude of things to do and see. This year was no exception. The trackless train ride was free for the public this year. There were also plenty of raffles for attendees to enter. Each day the activities began with an Arts and Craft Show at Oakes Ames Memorial Hall. There were two entire floors of arts and crafts on display and it provided attendees with the opportunity to go holiday shopping or browsing and allowed them to warm up from the cold weather as the hall was heated.
Other fun things to do at the holiday festival were bouncy houses/moonwalks, hay wagon rides and musical entertainment. There was also plenty of food for all to enjoy. The Rockery Lighting Ceremony with Santa was held at 5 pm on Saturday. After seeing the beautiful lights, attendees were able to enjoy the Talent Show at 7 pm.
On Sunday there was even more fun for everyone to enjoy. The Reindog Parade was at 1:30 pm and entrants were able to dress their dogs up and show them off to the town. The entrance fee to partake in the parade was 2 cans of dog food or 3 cans of cat food which was donated to the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern MA (formally the MSPCA). The parade route began at North Easton Savings Bank and ended at the Ames Free Public Library. During the parade the Easton Women of Today handed out goodie bags for the dogs and their owners. There was also a costume contest during the parade. 1st and 2nd place was awarded to the best dressed dogs and there was also a prize for the owner and dog that looked the most alike.
Also on Sunday was the Annual Holiday Parade which began at 1 pm. Santa Claus led the way from the Easton Village Shoppes past the library on North Main Street. At 1:45 pm the “Greatest Kids Show…Ever” was held on the second floor of the Oak Ames Memorial Hall. The show included a one-man show, the Oliver Ames High School Concert Choir, the dance teams from Dance Express, and a demonstration by Personal Best Karate.
If you missed the event this year, be sure to look out for it next year. As the Easton Lions Club is a non-profit organization any money that was left over following the event was donated to eye research and scholarships for Easton students. This event benefits the community in a multitude of ways and we are thankful that they have continued to choose B.C. Tent for their rental needs.
This past year we provided tent walls, banquet tables, heaters, and white fencing for the event. We loved working on the event this year and look forward to next year!
