#FeatureFriday: North River Arts Society’s Festival of the Arts
The North River Arts Society’s 40th annual Festival of the Arts was held in Marshfield Hills from May 27 to May 29. The festival celebrates the regional and community creativity, diversity and art across the south shore. Friday, May 27 was the gala preview party for the festival.
On Saturday, May 28 the festival went from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. The festival was also held on Sunday, May 29 from 12 P.M. to 5 P.M. Volunteer, Paul McCarthy was the emcee for the event. This festival of the arts had a variety of fine art exhibits, photography exhibits, children’s activities, artisans’ creations. The live entertainment included musical performances, magicians, poets, dancers, theater and a Giant Puppet Street Parade. Two blocks of Old Main Street in Marshfield Hills were blocked to traffic solely for the event. There were awards and prizes for artists. Visitors were also given the opportunity to see and buy some of the artists’ best pieces. The area was immersed in creativity. Even children were able to add their own creativity to the mix by creating chalk drawings on the pavement. Many artists were also on the sidewalks doing painting demonstrations.
Our tents could be seen throughout the festival. Other rentals that were at the event were chairs, the stage, tables and our beautiful string light decorations. This was an exciting event where attendees were able to view and buy incredible artwork and express their creativity.
