#MenuMonday: Maple Nut Goodie Cocktail

It may seem impossible but there are numerous ways to try and stay warm this winter.  This Maple Nut Goodie Cocktail recipe from HGTV is the perfect warm beverage to help you escape the cold.  It has perfectly delicious hints of nuts and coffee that are sure to entice your taste buds.  Serving this beverage at your next event would definitely be encouraged by all of your adult guests.  It does contain alcohol so it is only for those who are 21 years of age or older.

Maple Nut Goodie Cocktail

Ingredients

For Butterscotch Syrup:

  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips

For Cocktail:

  • 1 ounce whiskey
  • 1-1/2 ounces hazelnut liqueur (such as Frangelico)
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons real maple syrup
  • 4 ounces hot, strong coffee
  • 2 ounces milk
  • butterscotch syrup

Directions

Butterscotch Syrup:

1: Heat cream, corn syrup and salt in a medium sauce pan until it just reaches the boiling point, stirring frequently. Remove from the heat and add vanilla and butterscotch chips. Swirl pan to completely cover chips in liquid.

2: Allow chips to sit in liquid, undisturbed and away from heat, for 5 minutes. Use a whisk to fully blend the melted chips and warm cream. Add to a squirt bottle or piping bag to drizzle on drinks.

Cocktail:

1: Place whiskey, hazelnut liqueur and syrup in a large mug. Add the hot coffee and stir to combine.

2: Froth the milk with a frother or French press. Spoon the frothed milk on top of the drink and finish with a drizzle of butterscotch syrup.

Yield: 1 cocktail
