Japan Festival in Boston This Weekend!

festival tents

If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend pack up the whole family and head on over to City Hall Plaza Sunday, May 19th for the Boston Japan Festival. B.C. Tent is very excited to be a part of this festival again this year. This is the second annual festival and it is continuing to grow! Last year there were over 13,000 people in attendance and this year there are expected to be at least twice the amount! We have been planning this festival for months with the Japanese Association of Boston and cannot wait to see it come to life.

Boston has enjoyed a deep relationship with Japan since the days of the Iwakura Mission of 1871. In April of 2012 the city celebrated the 100th anniversary of the friendship gift of cherry trees from Kyoto to Washington D.C. by hosting a Japan Spring Festival with support from the Consulate-General of Japan in Boston and in cooperation with local Japanese businesses and organizations. The festival was held in Boston’s historic Copley Square Park in the heart of the city and was modeled after a traditional Japanese fair. The celebration exceeded all expectations, with over 13,000 participants in attendance. The success of the festival was due largely in part to the unprecedented level of cooperation from the local Japanese community. Around the same time as the festival, the city celebrated the addition of a new direct flight option between Boston Logan airport and Narita airport, bringing the two cultures and peoples closer than ever. The 2013 Japan Festival in Boston will focus on the theme of “matsuri,” the time-honored traditional Japanese-style festival.

Admission is FREE for all ages!

“See & Be Scene”- A HUGE Success!

NECR BC Tent Kristen Schuler photography

We recently hosted our first event industry mixer at B.C. Tent & Awning. The event was co-hosted by New England Country Rentals and was an enormous success. We pulled together 21 wedding and event professionals from the area to sponsor the event and show off their fabulous talents. First and foremost, we need to thank Kelly and her team at New England Country Rentals. They were a big part of the planning of the evening and we could not have done it without them! This was definitely a night to remember and the perfect way to kick off our 2013 season!

While planning this event we decided we had to create the perfect environment for this glitzy and glamorous night. We are a tent rental company but we have so much more to offer and we wanted to share as many of our gorgeous tent accessories and other rental items with everyone as possible. We decided to put the tent up on a raised staging platform to show that we can transform any piece of land, no matter the contour, into a beautiful party space. A HUGE thank you to Kristen at Kristen Schueler Photography for capturing such breathtaking photos of the night!

Someone new to our area is World Wide Wines of New England. They brought 10 delicious wines to the event and were definitely fan favorites!

Third Annual City of Champions Toy Drive December 19th

Catholic Charities

Here at B.C. Tent we thoroughly enjoy giving back to the community. We have a long time relationship with Catholic Charities South and are so happy to be supporting their annual City of Champions Toy Drive at the Shaws Center in Brockton again this year. We have donated a tent for the drive where over 1000 families will receive gifts that have been donated and collected by members of our community including parishes, companies and individuals. To produce this event, Catholic Charities South has joined up with Brockton Mayor Linda M. Balzotti, The Brockton Rox/Shaws Center, HarborOne Credit Union, and Toys for Tots.

“Working together, we are able to bring the joy of the holiday season to many local families,” said Mayor Linda M. Balzotti. “I am thankful for the collaboration and enthusiasm of Catholic Charities and the Brockton Rox for helping make this toy drive an annual success.”

“These remain challenging economic times, and we who have been blessed should do what we can to help those facing adversity, said HarborOne CEO, Jim Blake. “We welcome any and all contributions from the community and appreciate those who have already made a commitment to helping those in need.”

Additional donations of new and unwrapped toys for children ages 0-13 can be dropped off at the Brockton branches of HarborOne Credit Union (68 Legion Parkway, 1601 Main Street, 820 North Main Street, 443 Belmont Street and 770 Oak Street), Catholic Charities South (169 Court Street) or The Shaw’s Center.

“Catholic Charities South has been distributing gifts at Christmas for decades. When the opportunity was presented to collaborate with members of the Brockton community three years ago, we were enthusiastic to participate,” said Catholic Charities South Director Beth Chambers. “Our staff and volunteers work tirelessly year round to meet the very basic needs of our neighbors and this event is our way of saying thank you to them for allowing us into their lives.”

Volunteers are still needed to assist with the drive!!
